Our advice on trap prevention, installation and maintenance
How to prevent the proliferation of mosquitoes?
Mosquito prevention begins long before the traps are installed.

Eliminate stagnant water
A single mosquito can lay up to 300 eggs. Mosquito larvae need to swim in stagnant or slow-moving water. By eliminating all breeding sites, they cannot develop. Here's our advice on how to prevent this proliferation:
- Empty the cups under the flower pots every 3 days.
- Make sure there is no standing water under the deck.
- Empty any buckets or containers that may hold rainwater.
Maintaining your garden
Mosquitoes love rich, moist soil. It is therefore very important to collect leaves and maintain the soil in order to create an environment less conducive to their development:
- Rake leaves from under trees.
- Collect fruit (mosquitoes feed on nectar/sugar).
- Avoid open-air compost heaps.
Cleaning your gutters
A gutter clogged with leaves is likely to retain rainwater long enough for mosquito larvae to develop:
- Clean your gutters once a year in spring.
- Cover rainwater outlets with mosquito netting.
Treating water reserves
Some watering holes in the garden cannot be eliminated. Whether they are decorative or practical, it is important to prevent mosquito larvae from developing in them:
- Place a mosquito net (or equivalent device) over your rainwater collection tanks to prevent mosquitoes from laying eggs on the surface.
- Encourage biodiversity in decorative ponds and fountains: fish, frogs, etc.
- Keep your pool water clear at all times.

Flower pots, basins and tarpaulins are all breeding grounds for mosquitoes.

Where to place the traps?
Choosing the ideal location is essential to maximize trap effectiveness. Here are some keys to strategic placement for optimum protection:
- Close to the vegetation
- Sheltered from the wind
- In the shade most of the day
- In the most infested area
- Between 5 and 8 metres from the area to be protected
Here are some examples of recommended locations

Installation recommendations :
We recommend temporary installation of the trap. It's important to run it for 2 weeks, then adjust its location to optimize results if necessary.
